We are a non profit organization whose goals are to assist police K-9 teams in the state of Virginia and throughout the country.  We conduct workshops and certify K-9 teams in Patrol/Utility, Narcotic Detection, Explosive Detection and Accelerant Detection.

Virginia Police Work Dog Association is open to all members of Law Enforcement, and offers Associate Memberships to qualified citizens who are sponsored by a current member.

Resume Requirements for Master Trainer:
- Attend one VPWDA State or National Work Shop OR conducting a minimum of five (5) VPWDA certifications for at least a minimum of five (5) different K9 teams yearly.
- 8 hours of furthering education
Resume Requirements for Trainer:
- Attend one VPWDA State or National Work Shop OR Assist a VPWDA Master Trainer in conducting a minimum of five (5) VPWDA certifications for at least a minimum of five (5) different K9 teams yearly.
- 8 hours of furthering education

In Memory of VPWDA member Master at Arms
PO1 John “Jet Li” Douangdara and his dog “Bart”

John (26) and MWD “Bart” were among 30 American warriors killed in a helicopter crash in the Wardak Providence of Afghanistan on 6 August 2011.  John was an amazing young man and very talented dog handler and decoy.  His smile was contagious; his passion for his profession and his country was unsurpassed.  John’s unit has set up a memorial fund for his family.  Donations can be sent to:
